Grading and packing

WholeCuredLong shelf life

Tubers are cured after lifting so the skin sets, then graded by weight and checked for cuts and soft spots, because damage is where rot starts on a crop that otherwise stores well. Crate or mesh packing follows what your retail end wants to display.

How it travels

Suran is the most forgiving line on this list, which makes it a sensible first container for a new buyer. It wants dry, ventilated conditions rather than deep cold — condensation does more damage than warmth — and it tolerates a longer transit than any of the fruit lines.
